SVkids Blog

Welcome

Welcome to the SVkids Blog...a place where we help you stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the Preschool and Children's Ministries of Severns Valley, talk about relevant issues parents are dealing with today, and give helpful hints to dealing with common struggles in the homes. Our prayer is that this blog will be seen as a tool for you, the parent, to aid you in being the spiritual nurturer of your family. Stop by often and see what we are up to!

    Family D - Parent-Child Dedication Celebration

    Sunday, November 5th 9:00/10:45 am

At Severns Valley, dedicating your child is so much more than 5 minutes on stage at church one Sunday. It's a journey that lasts a lifetime!

It is our hope that we can partner with you. We want to be your biggest fans, your strongest supporters, and your trusted guides as you raise your child to know what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We don’t take it for granted that you as parents have picked us as your partners in raising your little ones to know and love Jesus.

Family D is our event that helps strengthen the partnership between your family and Severns Valley, a partnership that will ultimately lead to your child developing a faith of his or her own.

We invite you to join us for the Family D event on Saturday, November 4th from 9:00-10:30 am in the Atrium. This will be a time to celebrate your child that you are dedicating on Sunday.

Here are the steps you need to take in order to join us for Family D:

    1. Register (by Tuesday, October 24th) by sending an email to Brittany Kelly.

    2. Do your homework by watching the two short videos below.

    3. Send pictures: one family picture and one individual picture of your little one(s).

    4. Invite your friends and family to the Saturday event.

    5. Join us the following Sunday (November 5th) as we introduce your family to the church and Pastor Bill Langley prays over your little one(s).

  • Two Summer Events You Won't Want to Miss!

    Parents,

Our team is getting pretty excited about this summer and two of our most favorite events: Vacation Bible School and WinShape Camp.

Vacation Bible School (June 19-22 5:30-8:30pm)

Join the children of our community as we celebrate just how wonderfully and uniquely God made each of us. This year's theme, Gadgets and Gizmos, will help our children understand just how God wired us to follow Jesus and shine our light for Him.

    Help needed:

Don't wait too long...you don't want your favorite spot to be taken!

    • Crew Leader (escort a cool group of inventors around from station to station as they learn and apply the Biblical truths each night)
    • Recreation (who doesn't love a good game of dodge ball?)
    • Crafts and Inventions (bring on the glue and glitter!)
    • 5th grade Island (hang with an incredible group of 5th graders as they learn what it means to be a disciple and servant in the church)
    • Bible and Missions (help our small group teachers implement their lessons in their rooms when the inventors travel to them)

Register: Online registration has ended but you can still register in person the day of VBS.

    WinShape Camp (July 3-7)

If your child has completed 1st-9th grade by the end of this school year, they can join other children from many churches and our community for the BEST.WEEK.EVER. at WinShape Camp. This week-long-all-day-camp experience is sure to be a fit for any kiddo...whether they are sporty, artsy, love science or writing, like to be indoors or outdoors...however God made them, this is the right camp for them!

    Help needed:

    • prepare meals for our Mission Hope for Kids bus riders
    • drive busses for our Mission Hope for Kids Campers
    • walk around camp with a group of campers
    • play games and do devotions with campers
    • be present to help with registration each morning
    • prepare meals or host the camp staff one evening for dinner

Register: Only $50 will hold your camper's spot! Head to www.winshapecamps.org.

As always, please let me know if you ever have questions regarding any part of our SVKids ministry! We are so incredibly thankful for our families and love getting to partner with you as we all disciple the kiddos and point them to Jesus!
