On October 1st, 18 people from Severns Valley will head to Nicaragua on a mission trip. We will go to the two communities that we have adopted, El Platanal and San Francisco.
The purpose of this trip is like every trip we take. First, to go and share the Gospel with those in Nicaragua who have never heard. Secondly, to equip, strengthen and encourage the two churches we have helped establish in these communities.
The team has spent the last few months preparing for the trip. We have been working on our testimonies, learning the culture, planning activities, and preparing our hearts to be used by God.
In El Platanal, we will specifically be going to build relationships with those in both communities. We will be working with the church to repair, paint and in some cases rebuild parts of the primary school. You can see a photo of one of the four classrooms in the school to the right (click on the photo to see more of the school). We will also be going door to door handing out Bibles and prayer walking.
In San Francisco, we will be helping to landscape the church. We will also be handing out Bibles and prayer walking.
We will be a part of three worship services, in Somotillo, El Platanal and San Francisco. In both of the communities we will be meeting with the ladies of the churches and their friends to do a craft and share Bible stories. Playing games, soccer, baseball, kickball and more will help us to get to know the kids of the communities. We will take breaks to get water and to share our testimonies with the children.
In each community we will be working alongside brothers and sisters in Christ and those who do not know our Savior. Please pray for us as we go and for those whom the Holy Spirit is already at work in Nicaragua.
Our plan is to update this blog each day with photos and stories of what we have done and how we have seen God at work.
Thank you for sending us and for praying for us as we go.
